You knew it was coming, didn’t you? Another collection of matte polishes has surfaced and I have the review here for you. I have been playing around with matte polishes for a few months or so and Zoya’s are different from all of the other matte polishes I have dabbled around in. But different good or diffferent bad? Peep the review!
First, let’s see what Zoya says about their matte polishes,
“MATTE VELVET nail color by Zoya is not intended to be worn with a base coat, top coat or speed dryer of any kind. Due to the unique matte formulation, color is not as long wearing as traditional nail color. A completely clean, dry nail surface yields the best results for matte nail color wear.”
Meet the trio of this collection:

Zoya describes Posh as matte wine with shimmer. Okay this is random but how cool would this color be as a holographic? Wowseeers! I absolutely ADORE it as a matte. I had serious application issues that I chose not to clean up just to show you how rough Posh can be. LOL! Posh is thicker than the other 2 colors. Application has to be swift and I find that applying one coat and then immediately applying another coat is the trick. Posh really does look velvety on the nails. It’s gorg!
How cool is it that the polish residue has a matte finish?
How does Loredana measure up to Man Glaze’s Fuggen Ugly? Simply put….it doesn’t. Loredana is described as a matte gunmetal with shimmer. It is relatively darker than Fuggen Ugly and I prefer Loredana. How gorgeous does she look with flash? Without flash, eh…but with flash, oh la laaaa!!
Another black matte, gotta love that!! Don’t laugh at my rhyme. You know it’s dope. Look out for my album titled “Another Black Matte”. HA!! Dovima is pretty. I like her quite a bit. She is a little on the streaky side though. And it takes a little maintenance to get her under control. You have to apply a second coat immediately or you will run into a hot streaky mess.
Overall: Can I just say how much I love the frosted bottles and rubberized brush handles?
To the right is a regular Zoya bottle and to the left is a Zoya matte bottle. Loves iiiit!!
Well, I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again-you either like matte polishes or you don’t. I am a HUGE fan of them. I love all kinds of finishes with creams, mattes and holo’s being my favorites. Mattes take some work. They aren’t the “polish and go” kind of polishes. Each coat must be applied evenly and quickly. These matte polishes dry with the quickness.
When comparing them to other matte polishes, let’s just say Zoya calling this the “Velvet collection” is dead on. They really do feel velvety on the nails. Posh is strikingly unique. I got so many compliments on it! Do they chip? They do. I can only wear these polishes up to 2 days before chipping starts. I also endured some staining with Posh and call me crazy, but it’s worth it.
