Acne Sucks: But does oil on the skin help?
Hi there, my beautiful ladies.
I’m hopin’ that your acne suffering doesn’t keep you down. Although it is frustrating and downright depressing at times, we must continually find ways to not only feel beautiful on the inside by keep our skin healthy instead of simply covering it up with make-up.
Has anyone tried oil cleansing?
While brands like Shu Uemura have revolutionized oil cleansing by coming out with oil cleansers, I like the idea of going right in my kitchen and whipping up my own recipe.
That’s right, y’all. I have been known to simply throw some olive oil on my face, massage my skin and wipe it off after steaming my face with a nice hot washcloth. The process keeps my skin balanced and it always feels renewed—even when I’m on the brink of a break-out. I usually blend my own recipe of oils (except mineral–this is always a no no!) but when I’m too lazy to mix this and that sometimes I’ll go right in my kitchen and grab this baby…
Olive oil may be too rich for some–but it works well for my skin. As does jojoba oil and grapeseed oil. This is one method that you really have to tweak for yourself to see what your skin likes and responds best to.
Reader Brooke sent me over a nice article about oil cleansers you can purchase and the benefits of them. Check out this article here. I have even olive oil in the past to remove my make-up but it doesn’t always do the job with my mascara so I am forced (but quite pleased nonetheless) to continue to use Lancome’s Bi-Facil make-up remover.
Check out The Oil Cleansing Method website for additional information and share your experiences with oil cleansing if you happen to have any.

I was using olive oil to help with my oilies last week and I switched to jojoba this morning. I already saw a difference! I was dewy looking after a few hours when normally I'm dewy within an hour or two.
have you ever tried squalane oil? ling makes an awesome oil….it doesn't clog pores.
or washing your wash with ponds dry skin cream works just as well for me. no need for moisturizer after wards!
Oil is good–I forget to use it sometimes. However, it wasn't the oil cleansing that caught my eye in this post–it's your glasses! Girl, those are CUTE!!!!!! Rock them

You know what helps me as well? Auyverda powders. They are AWESOME!!!! I use Amla, Neem, and Aritha.
I take a half of teaspoon each, add some baking soda(not a lot), a little water to make a paste and use it as a mask. I then wash it off before the mask dries and use a moisturizer afterwards. I have extremely oily skin and it helps clear up blackheads and leaves my skin feeling good. Hope that helps
The oil cleansing method was so good for my oily oily oily (yes, that's triple oily skin). I used a self-made mix of olive, jojoba, tea tree and rosemary oil. I've let it slide lately, but I'm planning to start it up again soon.
I love olive oil! Mineral oil isn't bad for you either. It's the main ingredient in cold cream, and that stuff is classic.
its funny cos i was reading up on this yesterday and now your talking about it..yay! i heard castor oil is the best oil to use with oil cleansing bcos of its natural cleaning properties….:-)
Oil cleansing method revolutionized my skincare regimen!
I learned it through Shawnta and haven't looked back!

Amina—> You know, I think it was Shawnta that first got me on it!
i've been using coconut oil on my skin and it is pretty amazing. i switched because i read that mineral oil is like the worst ingredient to put on your skin. i have incredible dry skin but the coconut oil absorbs right into my skin. i'm kind of loving it right now. smells good, feels good, and totally kicked my dry skins ass! lol
Donna—> I used to use coconut oil on my hair but never thought about using it on the skin. Hmm…that's definitely something to think about.
