Beauty Review: Tarte Green Siren cheek stain
I’ve been slightly obsessed with Tarte’s Green Siren cheek stain for quite some time. This is my FIRST cheek stain by them.
Can I be honest? It was really the packaging on these babies that sold me. They remind me so much of those ice cream push pops I had as a kid!

Y’all remember those, don’t you? I can hear the ice cream truck in Miami now….
HA!
But really…these stains are pretty dynamite. I’ve been waiting for my skin to really pull it together so that I play around with them. Acne + cheek stains=no bueno. Pero ahora my skin is acting better!
Price: 2 out of 5 ($30 from Tarte.com, Sephora.com and Sephora stores)
Packaging: 3 out of 5
Overall: 5 out of 5
What it claims: “Achieve long lasting, buildable color with a completely “goof proof” application – unlike traditional stains these will not streak, leak or drip. It also gives you about 15-20 seconds of blending time before it dries down for a natural finish that’s pure perfection! Cheek stains are free of alcohol so they won’t dry out your skin and oil so they won’t clog your pores. They are infused with the tarte t5 super fruit complex™ for a healthy dose of natural antioxidants.” (source)
The truth: It’s not bad at all.
What I loved about it: I love that it is ALL natural. With my skin flare-ups, I am starting to appreciate all natural products more because I am finding that they aren’t so irritating. This cheek stain is without….A LOT!

What I didn’t like: As cute as it is, I don’t think it’s best to use directly on the skin. Well, I take that back. If you have acne prone skin (I.E. me) I find that it is better to use a brush over applying it directly to the cheeks. You know, like this…
I used MAC’s 187 because I found that if gave me better coverage than using my fingers and my the stick. This isn’t something to dislike per se…just an observation.
Overall: I really like these cheek stains. And I’m glad the Limited Edition Green Siren was my first. I was hesitant on how it would look on brown skin, but it works nicely.
It is reminiscent of a pink bronzer. In its subtly, it still manages to illuminate the cheekbones in a work-appropriate way.
I’m not sure if I would recommend these for oily skin. Even I had issues in humid Florida. My cheeks were shiner than normal but this may also be due to me not wearing any foundations or powders. What I DO love the cheek stain for is using it as a base for my blushes. Because I don’t wear foundation I find that my blushes tend to disappear throughout the day. Applying a bit of the cheek stain underneath my blush allows for blush to adhere better.
Genius!
That’s two uses….
And y’all know me and my multi pupose-isms. I have also used it as a lip balm. And that works beautifully as well.
On the cheeks….

Looking good B! I'm always hesitant about picking th right blush color but you show us that we can rock almost ANY color!
PS-Loving the lippie..what color is it??
I love that packaging! Its absolutely adorable!
I got my first cheek stain in "Natural Beauty" back in August and I love it. I was initially leery about how it would look on dark skin too but once I saw the end result, I wasn't mad. Plus, I'm new to blushes anyway (because I was weird about looking like a clown). I found this to be the perfect introduction. The price gotta go, the packaging is OK but the product is amazing!
What a cute packaging! You look great!
Hi B! I'm not really a blush person-although that particular stain is pretty. But what color and briand is your lipstick? It looks beautiful. I've been on a search for a nice red lippie for a brown skinned sista like myself–and everything I see screams clown red.
Hey Britt! The blush looks great on you, but I have to ask, what do you have on your lips?! I'm trying to go a little bolder with my lip colors and yours looks amazing! Thanks:)
Angela—> Thanks for the love, darlin'. I will definitely check out your blog!
numbah—> Girl, I don't know what that is. HA! I think it's just MAC's Vino liner and some regular gloss.
