Mascara Monday: Victoria Secret’s Beauty Rush mascara
Well, look at that! Who would have thought that I would be reviewing a mascara from Vicky S? Totally unexpcted, right? The next time you’re strolling your local VS, check out their beauty section. It’s not so bad! I received a gift set for Christmas one year and was quite surprised!
Let’s see how this mascara holds up…
Price: 5 out of 5 (2 for $12 or 5 for $20)
Overall: 3 out of 5
What it claims:
FA lush stroke of lash-enhancing color. Pigment-rich formula defines lashes in wearable color for look-at-me eyes. (source)The truth: They are just okay. It’s really the packaging that has me doing cartwheels. How cute is that?
What I didn’t like: The black mascara fell way too flat. And neither provided much volume.
Overall: This wasn’t a highly requested mascara or anything but I thought they would be pretty cool to add to the Mascara Bin. Yana from My Own Judge snagged the black (Blacktastic) one for me and of course after seeing the purple (Violight), I had to run out and get that one.
Let’s take a look at the wands:
Pretty average, uh? Not BAD but they look a little cheap-y. I don’t have many problems with wands like this but they are soooo….2001, ya know? And they aren’t the best with separation. They kind of suck at it, actually.
Sooo….I don’t know. I had different experiences with both mascaras. Violight turned out to be pretty decent. I didn’t get much volume but I was pretty satisfied with the lengthening aspect. It wasn’t AMAZING. But it was good. That the purple really is purple on black lashes. Now that surprised me!
Blacktastic, on the other hand, was just….phooey. It was total disappointment. It weighed down my lashes and didn’t provide any kind of volume. Interesting considering these babies come from the same color. Why is Violight SO much better?
Interesting…..
Both were a tad bit smudge-y but I didn’t experience any flaking throughout the day But I will tell you one thing about these mascaras–they are build-able! I applied a good 4 coats one application and it refused to clump. But applying coat after coat didn’t do much…I was still volume-less. Boo! On to the photos!
Anyone try any of these mascaras? What do you think?
A crazed mascara reviewer,

your purple retirement didn't last a whole day….but its okay, i love purple!
I worked for VS for awhile. The BR mascaras were fairly new when I quit last year. I never tried them, but I wasn't fond of how they looked on my employees (no volume, separation, etc.) I LOVED the BR lip glosses, though! They're the same deal as the mascaras. The Very Sexy line of makeup at Vicky's is pretty decent, though. Have you tried any of that makeup?
Kenzie—> Riiiiight!!! Haha, but I had already purchased this mascara before the retirement. But I am officially done now. Hehe!
N. Pruitt—> Nooo, I haven't! But I'll definitely be checking them out now. Thanks!
Now I am obsessed with getting purple lashes thanks to you! I went on the website and there is a blue on there as well…hmm.
I tried this mascara and I agree, it wasn't THAT great. If I curled my lashes really well, it would look REALLY good. If I didn't curl them enough, though, my lashes would get all spider-y.
the violet looks cute. love the color names

I have the brown mascara and I like to wear it for an everyday look. It looks really natural and people do not realize I have make-up on when I wear it yet it gives me some type of flare so I am not just leaving the house feeling naked. I wouldn't wear it to the club when I am dressed up but I love it for work.
Amanda—> I'll add it to the list.
hi, i recently bought the same purple mascara from VS, but when i put it on, the mascara looks black not purple:( My lashes are short and black asian lashes. So i was wondering how many coats of mascara did you put on to get the purple color since your lashes are black too?
I used a good 3 coats. Which is one coat too many.
