Happy Black History Month!

| February 1, 2010 | 3 Comments

It’s Black History Month! Last year I inserted random Black History facts in each Clumps of Mascara post. Many of you enjoyed these little tidbits. I’m glad! Knowledge is beauty too. Black History Month started off as Black History Week in 1926 by Carter G. Woodson

Oh and on this day in 1974 the television show Good Times premiered…

The family of 5 dealt with day to day struggles in Chicago. While some argue that this show exaggerated the lives of Black people in urban Chi-Town, I thought it was a good show. Despite their financial shortcomings, the Evans always managed to keep the faith. Crazy how it was called ‘Good Times’ though when it seemed like the Evans went though nothing but bad times. Ha! To find out more about Good Times click here. If there are any contributions or suggestions you have for this year’s Black History Month facts, please let me know.

I love Good Times! I watch it when it comes on TVOne and I'm just a mere 19. =)

You should do some beauty themed black History posts. Like people or events that have led to advancements in black beauty. Like the natural hair movement, Madame C.J. Walker, and those pomade tins that had the blacksploitation cartoons on them. I think it would be interesting.
