When I think of strong, influential and amazing young women, Jamie comes to mind. I love everything about her vision. I’ve had the pleasure of working with her before. She’s a fellow young entrepreneur, writing and an all-around go-getter.  Check out what she has to say about For Colored Girls.

For Colored Gurls is a lifestyle blog created by Jamie Fleming in September 2008. It caters primarily to women of color, but it’s open to any and everyone who wants to read it! The purpose of this blog is to help you live your best life with relevant news, interviews with successful individuals, motivational quotes and articles and so much more.

The mission? To inform, inspire and empower women to achieve success in all areas of life.

One of Jamie’s career goals was to create a magazine for young women of color. Initially, she thought about waiting a few years to ensure she had resources needed but felt that women her age needed something now, so she decided to start by creating something that would cost considerably less– a blog. She also realized that more and more people are flocking to websites and blogs for information and discovered that she could still follow her dreams, just in a different way. She ultimately decided “for colored gurls” was the way to go.

Jamie’s goal isn’t to have the biggest blog in the world or have an audience of millions; her intention is to empower her readers, inspire them to live their best lives and to reach for their dreams and goals.
