Pretty Polishes: butter LONDON Wallis
Reason #928 why butter LONDON is my favorite higher-end brand of nail polish…they always have these strikingly unique nail polish colors. A great deal of their polish shades can be labeled as weird, unusual, butt ugly and gross. Aaaaaand, considering I’ve got 3,041 red and pink polishes that all look alike, I am very open to the WUBUG (weird, unusual, butt..you get it) demographic.

How freaking weird is Wallis?
It’s not a polish that you would call “pretty” at first glance, uh? Good thing those nail polish description writers at butterLONDON.com are so efficient.

Wallis is, “A tarnished, metallic olive gold lacquer, as mysterious and regal as its namesake.”

Why yes, metallic olive gold lacquer was exactly what I was thinking.
I certainly wish I knew who the namesake was though.
Ahhh, who cares. ‘Scuse me while I go finish staring at Wallis.
If you need to complete your life, you can pick up Wallis here for $14.

LOL @ the term “WUBUG.” This polish looks perfect on you!
I wrote a little bit about the real Wallis Simpson when I posted my so-so swatches last August. http://stuffiswatched.blogspot.com/2011/08/stash-swatch-swap-fall-fling-with.html Hope it helps

Uggh! I was just at Ulta today and held this polish in my very hands. Then put it back because I decided I owned enough olive polishes! It’s so unbelievably gorgeous though.

As far as the namesake goes, the most famous Wallis Simpson, Duchess of Windsor http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wallis_Simpson
I really have a soft spot for these sorts of colors. I’ve held off Butter for price point reasons, but damn they have some good colors.
Love the nail shape btw!

It’s named for Wallis Simpson, for whom the Duke of Windsor abdicated his throne to marry. She was an American, and he, of course, British, that marriage being a no-no for succession to the throne as King of England. I believe this was just after WWII, or thereabouts, timewise.
